‘Tis the season!
Lately I’ve been seeing some really great ideas for the holidays, much of which I will try and likely blog about them. Some of my favorite things this week have been:
THIS holiday drink from The Kitchn:
One thing that you may/may not know about me is that I love whiskey and bourbon, like a dude or something. Usually it surprises men when I order whiskey. I usually order a whiskey sour or a whiskey coke when I go out. I don’t discriminate with any whiskeys (or bourbon) ;).
Doesn’t this look amazing though? Apples, cinnamon, and bourbon?! Yes, please.
If you’re not one that likes things straight but enjoys things in a mixed drink you can see The Kitchn for a multitude of things to do with your newly amazing Apple Cinnamon Burbon.
LOVE the idea this year of wrapping with brown paper. This collage sums up a lot of different ideas (Taken from My Paradissi). This photo takes the brown paper and shows you what you can do with a few glitter stickers, paint, hand written designs/names, and stamps. Jazz it up with some cool embellishments/string/ribbon, and it gives it a handmade yet rustic look. And hey, there’s some really cute but cheap ornaments at Walmart, inexpensive ribbon at TJ Maxx. So grab your 40% off coupon from Michael’s or Hobby Lobby and grab a roll of brown paper! The possibilities are endless.
One thing that I love reading when it comes to the Holidays are party advice. You never know what you can learn. So, Apartment Therapy has an article on 9 Party Hosting You Might Not Even Know You’re Making. Some great ideas here.
One thing that I would really like to make this year is a Linzer Cookie. It’s been quite an ordeal to find some linzer cookie cutters this year (usually Michael’s has some and we don’t have a Michaels in the town we’re in). They’re a sandwich cookie that has a jam filled center. Didn’t realize they originated from Austria! View more cookies form Cool Mom Picks.
One book that I’m itching to read this season is The Heart of Christmas from Brenda Novak. I really like Brenda Novak as a writer, and if you have read the books in the series, you’ll be itching to read this book too! If you haven’t been reading these books from this author, they also do stand alone well. You can find the book here on Amazon.
What are your favorite things to try this Christmas Season?
